General Regulations |
1. |
Hong Kong Team expects loyalty from members, members must be prepared to
commit and devote totally to the objective of the Team which is to achieve
highest performance possible in any Dragon Boat Race in which the Team entered. |
2. |
A Team member must observe all Team rules and regulations. |
3. |
A Team member must attend all Team Training Programme as far as possible
and in any case achieve no less then 70% of the training sessions scheduled.
Otherwise, his/her qualification of being selected as a Representative Team
Member will be cancelled. Permission for absence needs to be obtained from the
Committee under special circumstances. Absence for routine training may only be
excused by express permission given by the coach concerned in advance. |

The attendance is counted from the end of one race to the next until the
new representative list is announced. If there are less than
ten water training sessions in between, it will be counted starting from
the second last race. |
5. |
The Team will not normally allow members to be a member of another dragon
boat team or club other than the member is an employee of an organization which
manages this team or club or express permission is given by the Committee. If a
member to whom permission is given to maintain membership of another dragon
boat team or club, such member must not allow the activity of the other team or
club to hinder his/her programme with the HKT and be prepared to be excluded
from representing Hong Kong in international races if the Committee feels the performance
of such team member has been or will be hindered through his/her involvement
with the other team/club. |

A Team member must obey instructions given by his/her Team Captain
Coaches, or Team officials. |
7. |
When HKT is in action, all members are expected to sacrifice his/her
individually; he/she must think, act and respond as a team and to the interest
of
Hong Kong
Team only.
Selection of Representative Team Member |
8. |
The decision of selecting individuals to represent Hong Kong in any race
rest solely with the Team Manager and the Committee in consultation with the
coaches prior to making such decision. Loyalty, performance and attendance of
training sessions, amongst other factors will determine whether or not a member
of HKT will be selected. No objection will be accepted. |
9. |
Proposed race representatives list will be announced within one to one
and a half month before the race held or as soon as possible. Final
representatives list will be announced after the Committee and Coaches has made
their final decision. |

Regulations when Representing Hong Kong |
10. |
Race representatives should attend not less then 85% of
the water training sessions scheduled during the period from proposed race
representatives list being announced to the race started. Otherwise, they may
be disqualified except with special reason. |
11. |
All HKT race representatives cannot represent other club/team/organization
to participate into same race. Permission is required from the Committee even
for the unselected members. |
12. |
When selected to represent Hong Kong in an international race, the
member must ensure his/her availability during the whole period of the race,
partial attendance will not be permitted. |
13. |
When a member is selected to represent HK but subsequently cannot make himself/herself available, he/she must inform the Team
Manager personally as soon as possible, in any case no later than three weeks
prior to the departure of the Team for the hosting country. Should a member
decided to withdraw his/her participation in shorter notice, unless there are
compelling reasons, he/she may not be considered for the next international
event. |
14. |
Team members are not allowed to have company with them in overseas
event. Should a relative or friend of a member wishes to accompany any individual member during any overseas Team activity, prior
approval from the Team Manager must be sought. The member concerned should be
prepared to ask his/her companies to make their own passage and accommodation
arrangements. The presence of such company should not cause interference to the
activities of the member concerned. |
15. |
During the whole period of a race a member is expected to:
a) |
keep strict discipline; |
b) |
be punctual; |
c) |
act together as a Team unless instructed otherwise by the Team
manager; |
d) |
response positively and promptly to instructions given by Team
Captain, Coaches or the Team Manager; |
e) |
be conscious about his/her own personal behavior at all times as
it will inevitably reflects the image of Hong Kong; |
f) |
observe the rules and tradition of the hosting country at all
time. No member is allowed to take on dispute of any kind with the hosting
authority personally. Dispute, if any will be reported to the Team Manager for
his action. |

16. |
Breaches any of the above rules may result in suspension of membership
and/or dismiss from taking part in any race for a period subject to the
decision of the Team Manager. |
