THE HONG KONG DRAGON BOAT TEAM |

The HK Dragon Boat Team consists of the Committee, the Pool & the Team. COMMITTEE The Committee composed of various professional people authorized by the HKDBA. It is responsible for monitoring the proper management of the team including recruitment, training , selection and related matters. THE POOL Any experienced dragon boat paddlers who are devoted in the sport and interested in joining the HK team and passed the basic selection criteria are welcome to join the pool. Basic selection criteria included a fitness test (re. Appendix I ), a skill test on the water, a swimming test of 200m. with sport gears on and a general interview with the Committee. For those who are selected will be invited to join the pool for regular training, i.e. a minimum of 1 land training and 2 water drills per week in normal circumstances. THE TEAM With a minimum of at least one month+ prior to any competition which HKDBA is going to take part, a selection of the actual team member will be called. Basic criteria for those who are eligible will be those within the pool and with a minimum attendance rate of 75% in regular training. They have to go through a fitness test, a water drill and an interview with the Committee. Criteria of selection will be announced prior to the selection. In general circumstances, fitness, paddling skill , personal attitude and other related matters will be considered. Once selected, they had to go through an intensive training of at least one land training and three water drill per week till the actual competition. A minimum of 90% attendance will be required during the intensive training period and for those who failed to oblige will have to leave the team but he/she is still eligible for joining the regular training in the Pool and qualified for the next selection with appropriate criteria. REMARK After competition, the team will be dissolved and returned to the Pool for regular training and pending for next selection with regard to needs. |
